BEIRUT: Lebanese protesters gathered around the country in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike in Israeli prisons.
“Freedom and appreciation for the heroes, the captives in the jails of the Zionist entity,” one sign read during a demonstration in Sidon.
Protests took place in east Lebanon’s Baalbeck and the northern city of Tripoli.
Sunday marks the 21st day of the hunger strike.
Under the leadership of prominent Palestinian Marwan Barghouti, at least 1,500 Palestinian detainees are reported to be on strike protesting torture and the general lack of human rights for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
