IDEX 2017 ends on a high-note with a total of 90 deals valued at more than AED 19.177 billion

Abu Dhabi-UAE: 23 February, 2017 

At a press conference on the fifth and last day of the 13th edition of the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX 2017), Naval Staff Colonel Fahed Nasser Al Thehli, Official Spokesperson of the fourth edition of the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX 2017), announced 8 new deals worth AED 344,053,040.

5 of the deals are with national companies and the remaining 3 with international companies. The press conference, held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, was also attended by His Excellency Staff Brigadier-General Rashid Mohammed Al Shamsi, Official Spokesperson of IDEX 2017.

Naval Staff Colonel Fahed Nasser Al Thehli announced the following UAE Armed Forces contracts:

An AED 30,000,000 contract with the UAE based company, International Golden Group (IGG), to supply metal sheets in order to repair airport runways.

A contract worth AED 25,880,042 with the UAE based company, Sony Solutions, to equip the new media centre with technical and engineering works.

A contract worth AED 10,000,000 with UAE based company Mohamed Abdulrahman Al-Bahar for maintenance and repair works for Cat Machinery.

A contract valued at AED 55,095,000 with the Turkish based company, FNSS Savunma Sistemleri A.Ş to provide technical support.

A contract with Beltech Export FZE, a Belarusian company, for AED 110,000,000 to provide technical support.

An AED 45,000,000 contract with the UAE based company, Tasneef, to technically support all classification procedures.

A contract valued at AED 58,800,000 with the UAE based company Emirates Centre for Al Imdad, to provide technical and logistical support.

A contract valued at AED 9,277,998 with the German based company IMS High- Tech, to purchase ammunition for the UAE Armed Forces.

During the press conference, His Excellency Staff Brigadier-General Rashid Mohammed Al Shamsi, also announced that the UAE Armed Forces signed a three contract agreement with NIMR Automotive for 1,750 armoured vehicles.

NIMR will deliver 1,500 JAIS 4x4 and 6x6 infantry fighting vehicles, as well as more than 150 HAFEET 630A artillery support vehicles in both Observation and Command and Control configurations and 115 AJBAN 440A vehicles equipped with anti-tank guided missile systems to the UAE Armed Forces from 2018.

Over the span of IDEX and NAVDEX 2017, the UAE Armed Forces penned a cumulative of 90 deals worth AED 19,177,443,973. The past four days are split as follows:

  • Day one of IDEX and NAVDEX 2017 witnessed 21 deals worth more than AED 4.416 billion.
  • Day two of IDEX and NAVDEX 2017 witnessed 10 new deals worth more than AED 6.919 billion.
  • Day three of IDEX and NAVDEX 2017 witnessed 31 new deals worth more than AED 4.075 billion.
  • Day four of IDEX and NAVDEX 2017 witnessed 20 new deals worth more than AED 3.422 billion.
