Tehran – KLM Royal Dutch Airliner landed at Imam Khomeini international Airport of Tehran on Saturday night after a three-year recess.

The Dutch flag carrier halted flights to Iran in 2013 due to Western sanctions.

Speaking in a ceremony to resume KLM flights to Iran, KLM Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer René de Groot said that lifting Western sanctions on Tehran and resuming flights between Iran and Netherlands can help increase the knowledge of Dutch people about Iranian market.

He said that there will be seven flights a week operating between Tehran and Amsterdam aiming to boost trade and tourism between the two countries.

For its special location in Europe, the Amsterdam Airport can serve as a connection bridge for the Iranians who intend to travel to northern America and Canada, the official said.
