Filipino retro music lovers in the UAE can groove to vintage sounds in a concert dubbed Disco Manila in Concert on October 6 at East Plaza, NYU Abu Dhabi Arts Centre.

Dancing queens and global crate-diggers can get down to the disco sounds of ’70s and early ’80s Philippines and embrace the Manila Sound, a genre that came to life in the capital city during that time period. Spanky and Roger Rigor, co-founders of VST & Company, lead the concert. They will be joined by The Union featuring Jet Montelibano (formerly of Music & Magic), Jessica Casas (formerly of Something Special), Nino de Jesus, Jo-ann Visitacion and Fulton Montoya. Rooted in an amalgam of American soul, funk and disco origins, the euphoric dance music mixed with Filipino melodic traditions is expected to filter through the warm glow of the Manila Sound.

After the concert, the audience takes centre stage at a Disco Manila live band karaoke on October 7 at East Plaza, NYU Abu Dhabi Arts Centre, singing choice dance tunes in a special live band karaoke.
