Dubai, UAE - Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organised Stakeholder Happiness Strategy Workshop and Creativity Lab, at the Armani hotel in Dubai, with HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, DEWA’s senior management, and several members of DEWA’s staff taking part. The creativity lab included the development of strategic frameworks to upgrade services, and achieve stakeholders’ happiness.

“I would like to welcome you today to our Internal Stakeholder Happiness Strategy Workshop and Creativity Lab, and to launch the DEWA Strategy Week 2017, whose focus is Happiness. The Strategy Week is essential for us all to better understand how we will move forward with our plans, and how we will contribute to the future of Dubai, the UAE, and the world. This supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to instil happiness within all government organisations. His Highness has made the happiness of society a strategic priority, and is using every possible resource to achieve this. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed once said, “Happiness, positive lifestyle, government commitment and genuine spirit unite UAE community,”” said Al Tayer.

“Today’s Creativity Lab will show you how we will contribute to making this happen. Your inputs today, along with aligning your work to achieve this, will help us all to make this a success. You will directly contribute to the vision of His Highness, as well as the happiness of all stakeholders, but also to make Dubai a hub of innovation, empowerment, and happiness, through the Happiness Agenda under the Smart Dubai Office, which in turn will make the UAE one of the best nations in the world by 2021. The UAE 2021 National Agenda promotes the position of the UAE in the human development index, and measures the well-being of nations, by ensuring a positive and happy environment for all our employees, and instilling positive values in all ministries and government institutions,” added Al Tayer.

“It did not come as a surprise to us that the UAE has scored highly in the global happiness index, achieving a milestone in the World Happiness Report 2017. The UAE ranked first in the Arab world, and 21st globally. Our nation is the first in the world to dedicate a ministry to happiness, and we have developed government strategies to implement programmes to strengthen the concept of happiness in all government departments and throughout society. As a government organisation, DEWA aims to contribute to the success of the National Happiness and Positivity Programme by aligning our plans and programmes with it. Our stakeholders are very important to us, as they help us deliver our strategy, and their happiness matters. As you know, they are our government, customers, partners, suppliers, providers of capital and investors, society and, most importantly, you, our employees. Happiness is embedded within our strategy. We want to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, and this requires happy stakeholders, which is a key component within our mission, a value we all share, and a strategic objective within our strategy map that all of you contributes to, in your respective roles,” noted Al Tayer.

“DEWA was the first government organisation to implement the Happiness Meter, in support of the Happiness Meter initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. We use smart devices to measure the public’s satisfaction with our services. We have developed procedures to analyse, and coordinate the results of the Happiness Meter, in real time. This system was later deployed within all of our customer service centres. We also installed smart screens to enable us to monitor the happiness of customers and make immediate improvements. The preliminary results of the Happiness Meter were excellent. The Happiness Meter exceeded 98% in the first few days of its launch. According to the final results issued by Dubai Smart Government, DEWA’s Happiness Meter registered a result of 98% in February 2016. DEWA changed the name of its Customer Services division to the Customer Happiness division. The names of DEWA’s Customer Service Centres have been changed to Happiness Centres. This also has been applied to every department that engages with our stakeholders, in a properly-governed manner,” added Al Tayer.

“Finally, I would like to share with you an inspiring statement by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, “The job of government is to achieve happiness for people.” This is why we are here today. I value all your contributions to help us enhance our stakeholders’ happiness as efficiently as possible. l look forward to this being not just a plan, but a well-executed victory and a successful milestone for DEWA that we can all be proud of,” concluded Al Tayer.

The lab focused on positive discussions and the exchange of innovative ideas to promote happiness. The schedule included a presentation of DEWA’s strategy on happiness, as well as a number of suggestions and initiatives to promote happiness and integrate it within DEWA’s corporate brand. Due to its keenness to support and strengthen strategic partnerships with the public and private sectors, DEWA organises the creativity lab to inform stakeholders about its strategic plan 2021, identify their aspirations for the next phase, and share knowledge, experiences and best practices. This will increase the happiness of all its stakeholders.
