Abu Dhabi to award design contract for medical rehab centre in July

19 June 2017

Abu Dhabi General Services Company PJSC (Musanada) in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) is expected to award the design consultancy contract for the 184 million dirhams ($50 million) Abu Dhabi Medical Rehabilitation Centre in Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, Abu Dhabi, in July 2017, according to a source close to the project.

“The tender for the design consultancy services contract was floated on 13 March 2017 and the closing date for submission was 7 May, which was extended twice to 28 May and 4 June 2017,” the source told Thomson Reuters Projects.

“We anticipate the design consultancy contract to be awarded by end of July 2017,” he said, adding that the project is slated for completion by fourth quarter 2019.

The source said the project was shifted from its earlier planned location in Khalifa City A to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, which necessitated a new design consultancy tender.

Construction work on the four billion dirhams ($1.08 billion) Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in the Al Mafraq is nearing completion, according to a January 2017 press statement posted on Musanada’s website.  The 732-bed facility is spread over an area of 300,000 sqm and will be run by more than 440 doctors and 1,800 nurses once completed, the statement added.
