A 350 million UAE dirham ($95.1 million) cable car network to connect Abu Dhabi’s Al Maqtaa area and the Al Bahya Corniche is currently under study.

Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s Department of Municipal Affairs & Transport said in a statement on Tuesday that that the cable car or ‘Teleferic’ Project for Al Maqtaa and Al Bahya is part of a portfolio of proposed projects and future investment opportunities in the emirate.

The transport network is expected to include five stations starting from Al Maqtaa Creek, parallel to Abu Dhabi - A– Ain Road near the Al Maqtaa Bridge. The second station would be Khalifa Park, followed by Sheikh Zayed Mosque, and the fourth would be near the Ritz Carlton hotel. The line would then turn to the Arabian Gulf Street in a route parallel to Musaffah Bridge, ending at the fifth and final station at the Canal Project and Al Barri Souk.

Details of the project have not been released to contractors, the statement said, adding that an official announcement would be made when the project nears final approval.
