Minister opens new Schlumberger Bahrain oilfield services base

Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and Minister in Charge of Oil and Gas Affairs inaugurated the state-of-the-art Bahrain Oilfield Services Base of Schlumberger in Jebel Al Dukhan, Kingdom of Bahrain on Thursday.

The inauguration was attended by executives and senior officials of the oil and gas sector in the Kingdom of and Schlumberger, senior officials of the oil and gas sector in the Kingdom and besides a number of CEOs and officials of the oil companies affiliated to Nogaholding Company.

The Minister expressed gratitude and appreciation to Schlumberger’s selection of Bahrain as their new oilfield services operations base offering the latest advanced technologies to the local and international oil companies operating in the Kingdom.

“Bahrain has always sought to attract major international companies to do business as well as developing economic and commercial activities. This strategy also opens up Bahrain market to various local and foreign investments provide more job opportunities for local citizens to and increase national income and provide more job opportunities for local citizens,” the Minister said.

“Our policies based on diversification of the national economy, resulting in the Kingdom of Bahrain occupying a leading position in many economic areas. Bahrain’s approach to economic policy is based on facilitating investment procedures and capital movement, while ensuring transparency and a system to monitor the performance and achievements of specific legislative structures and economic development in order to achieve the strategic objectives of Bahrain Economic Vision 2030,” he added.

“Bahrain has strong links and historical relations with Schlumberger that began with the servicing of oil wells for the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) in the Bahrain Field in 1938, besides providing technical support to Tatweer Petroleum in 2010. The company has also provided technical and oilfield services to many other exploration and production companies over the same period, besides providing Bahrainis with job opportunities to work in various specialisations and services in other Oil and Gas industries in the Kingdom.
