ABU DHABI, 28th March, 2017 (WAM) -- The 27th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair will run between 26th April and 2nd May, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA), the fair consistently witnesses record-breaking participation from Arab and Foreign publishing houses, and includes a professional and cultural programme. While focussing on electronic publishing, digital content, electronic applications and the latest technologies in the publishing world, it will be full of activities.

The event will provide the perfect space for event developers and service providers to demonstrate their latest products and services to the publishing community. In this edition, the fair celebrates China as a Guest of Honour and philosopher Ibn Arabi, a pivotal character, given his intellectual theses and poetry set to Arabic music.

Saif Ghobash, the Director-General of the TCA, said, "The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is one of the most important projects organised by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority. The annual event has established its official stature as the biggest event of its kind, in addition to its high stature in the publishing sector of the world."It represents the authoritys commitment to making Abu Dhabi a beacon for culture and an international destination for the publishing industry, he remarked.

"There is a boom in the publishing sector and a remarkable growth today in the number of Arab authors who are in the forefront of this growth. We provide full care for literary works and publishing, whether traditional or electronic," Ghobash added.

He noted that the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair strengthens its commitment to readers in a bigger way this year, which allows them to enjoy the wonders of reading and writing through a number of diverse workshops and seminars which focus on publishing industry.

Digital publishing represents something very important in the development of this industry while keeping up with the directions of modern publishing, he added.

Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Acting Executive Director of the National Library sector at the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, said, "The demand from exhibitors is high. This shows the importance of this event once again and the role it plays in the region." The list of the Fairs guests includes prominent novelists, authors, graphic designers, article writers, and societal trailblazers who come from the Middle East, Europe, Asia, North Africa, and North America.
