SHARJAH, 28th May, 2017 (WAM) -- The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SCCI, has inaugurated the Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Training and Research Centre, under the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Economic Unity in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, and supported by the chamber, upon the directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Chamber officials stressed that their contribution to support and finance this project is a realisation of the directives of the Sharjah Ruler to support the Council of Arab Economic Unity of the League of Arab States. This support will enable it to fulfil its duties to improve economic legislation, perform leading research studies in the field of monetary and taxation studies and promote co-operation between Arab countries, the chamber added.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, Khalifa Saif Al Tunaiji, Charg? d'Affaires of the UAE Embassy in Cairo, and Ambassador Mohammed Al Rabie, Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Economic Unity.

The centre aims to train young and qualified Arab people, who are capable of innovation, by implementing specialised training courses as part of a scientific programme that aims to develop Arab human resources and promote their contributions, in a bid to improve all sectors of Arab economies.

In his speech, Abdullah Sultan Al Owais stressed that supporting the centre falls within the framework of the wise vision of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi and his passion for supporting the scientific and cultural movement in the Arab world to achieve a better overall future, based on his interest in human development as the true wealth and perfect investment for communities, to develop and to leave a footprint in the ongoing journey of humanity.

Al Owais highlighted the desire of the Sharjah Ruler to provide all possible opportunities for Arab youth to highlight their creativity and capacity for work, and to play a leading role in achieving sustainable economic development.

He also praised the political, economic and commercial relations between the UAE and various Arab countries, especially Egypt, noting that the relations between both countries have been strong for over 40 years, since they were established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and promoted by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates.
