DUBAI, 23rd February, 2017 (WAM) -- The Ministry of Finance, MoF, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Emirates Transport to provide the Ministry with electric-powered vehicles.

The MoU comes as part of MoFs commitment to support sustainable energy resources in line with UAE Vision 2021, which stresses the importance of the government working to ensure the continuity of sustainable development, to preserve the environment and to achieve the balance between economic and social developmentUnder the MoU, signed by Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary at MoF, and Mohammed Abdullah Al Jarman, General Manager of Emirates Transport, in Dubai, Emirates Transport will provide MoF with electric-powered vehicles following the higher authorities approval of the projects terms and conditions.

Younis Al Khoori said, "As part of our wise leaderships commitment to diversify energy resources and encourage adopting renewable resources to reduce harmful emissions, the Ministry is working to enhance the environmental indicator results by embracing environment friendly, electric-powered vehicles. This stems from our belief in the importance of sustainable development and our commitment to future generations to provide a clean, healthy and safe environment."Mohammed Al Jarman extended his gratitude for the Ministrys trust in the transportation, rental and technical services, which contribute in promoting the use of eco-friendly transportation and implementing practices to preserve natural resources.

"The signing of the MoU stems from the Ministrys commitment to achieving sustainable development and helps strengthen cooperation between Emirates Transport and the Ministry of Finance," he said.
