Eni ‘In Good Shape’ For Kashagan Start-Up
Eni upstream head Claudio Descalzi told a press conference last week that oil production from Kazakhstan’s Kashagan field is expected to start up as scheduled. “We are in good shape, and good shape means that to reach commercial production of 75,000 b/d by December, we have to start production by the first week of November and ramp up,” Mr Descalzi said. “One of the main milestones was the hook-up and the hook-up is practically finished — it will be complete 90%-95% in April and the rest in May. We’ve already started testing all the lines with gas. The commissioning is going very well, without any big issue.” The schedule for development of the 9bn barrels Kashagan field has been subject to revision, with the Kazakh authorities warning last year they would fine the consortium $120mn if early oil production does not start in 4Q12 (MEES, 17 October 2011). © Copyright MEES 2012.
