Bahrain’s Crude Output Rises 4.6% In 2011
Bahrain’s crude oil output rose by 4.6% to an average of 190,281 b/d in 2011 from 181,850 b/d in 2010, according to statistics posted on the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) website. Of this total 43,510 b/d were produced from the Bahrain oil field and 147,771 b/d represented Bahrain’s share of output from the Abu Sa'fa offshore field, shared with Saudi Aramco. The crude from this field is produced and marketed by Saudi Aramco, with Bahrain receiving half the revenue. Imports in 2011 of Saudi crude for processing at Bahrain’s Sitra refinery averaged 217,160 b/d, down 7.5% from 2011 and throughput to the refinery in 2011 averaged 263,086 b/d, a fall of 3.4% from the previous year. According to the NOGA statistics, Bahrain’s gas production and consumption in 2011 stood at 1.513bn cfd, down from 1.525bn cfd in 2010.
The value of Bahrain’s oil and gas production in 2011 was estimated at BD2.951bn ($7.850bn), up 44.5% from 2010 as a result of higher prices, according to statistics issued by NOGA and quoted in the Bahrain daily al-Wasat
of 17 March.
