Iran To Establish ‘Energy Bank’

Mohammad Behzad, Managing Director of Iran’s Power Generation, Transmission, and Management Company (Tavanir), told Mehr News Agency on 1 November that the Ministry of Energy has started talks with the  Central Bank of Iran and the Ministry of Finance with a view to set up a specialized ‘energy bank’. This bank would facilitate the flow of capital into Iran’s developing electricity market as well as support the privatization of Iran’s energy sector. Iran’s Minister of Petroleum Masoud Mirkazemi was cited as saying that the bank would “place the priority on offering facilities to the private sector.”
