BEIRUT (Zawya Dow Jones)--Electricite du Liban, or EDL, Lebanon's state-owned electricity production and distribution utility, expects its deficit to reach nearly 2.12 trillion Lebanese pounds ($1.41 billion) in 2010, Beirut-based As Safir daily reports Thursday citing the country's Finance Minister Mohammad Chatah.

The forecast is based on an oil price of $70 a barrel and on the current electricity tariff and bill collection rate, Chatah told the paper, adding that bill collections won't fully cover even the administrative expenses of EDL.
