Qatari Emir: Economy To Grow 9% In 2009, 16% Next Year - QNA
Zawya Dow Jones News

DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--Qatar's economy will grow 9% this year, and 16% in 2010, state-run Qatar News Agency, or QNA, reports Tuesday, citing the country's emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani.

"These are high rates compared to the global growth rates, which asserts how Qatar successfully dealt with the global economic crisis," QNA quotes the emir as saying.

Last month the International Monetary Fund revised upwards to 4.2% its 2010 real gross domestic product, or GDP, estimate for the Middle East but kept its 2% growth forecast for 2009.
