Transneft Vice President Mikhail Barkov has said, in an interview with the weekly journal Expert published on 17 February, that the proposed Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline was a “frozen, not failed project.” Mr Barkov, who is also CEO of the Trans Balkan Oil Pipeline consortium that is promoting the 300km, 700,000 b/d capacity project, added that it “may have been suspended, but in case it is revived it can be constructed in a matter of months.”
