About MEES

Since its establishment in 1957, the Middle East Economic Survey (MEES) has come to be recognized as the world's foremost authority on oil and gas in the Middle East. Founded in Beirut, Lebanon, by Fuad W. Itayim, this weekly newsletter provides a comprehensive source of news and analysis of energy, economic and political developments in Middle East countries.

MEES' Editor Emeritus, Ian Seymour, is one of the leading oil journalists of his generation and Walid Khadduri, Editor-in-Chief, is respected worldwide as an authority on Middle East affairs. Dr Khadduri now oversees the production of MEES from its base in Cyprus - an ideal location benefiting from a lack of restrictions on publishers and easy communications with the Middle East, Asia, Europe and North America.

MEES and its staff of both Arab and non-Arab analysts benefit from a wealth of expertise and information, accumulated over some 45 years, allowing them to provide subscribers with a unique insight into the Middle East that is not readily available elsewhere. Our vast network of contacts ensures that you hear it first, correctly and clearly, from us. MEES presents developments in Middle East economies - be they oil and gas-related or otherwise - in a clear and concise style, giving readers a critical edge over the competitors in market intelligence while not neglecting the broader policy angles.

MEES offers no frills nor gimmicks. It provides news and analysis with clarity and accuracy - four sections of information covering Oil and Gas, Banking and Finance, Politics, and Opinions from outside sources.

Energy: The first section of MEES is devoted to the oil and gas industry and associated sectors, including petrochemicals, power generation and e-commerce. The section focuses on the Middle East, but coverage also extends to other parts of the oil and gas world which impact on the region and its markets. We cover upstream and downstream developments, OPEC activities and negotiations, individual projects, oil prices, oil supply and demand data and many other areas relevant to a full understanding of the region's oil and gas industry.

Finance: This section of MEES brings you up-to-date information on the banking and finance world of the Middle East. Offering unrivalled coverage of business activities, it provides micro-level information within a macro-economic perspective covering everything from national budgets, to banking results, capital results, capital markets, sectoral analyses, project finance, aid assistance, ratings and regular macro-perspectives on Middle East economies.

Politics: The third section of MEES offers you sharp observations and blunt comment on the state of the region's political situation from a veteran commentator, Charles Snow. It brings you up to date with everything from the latest peace negotiations developments to factional politics in Iran or Sudan. An invaluable service for all those investors interested in the political stability of the region.

Op-Ed: The final section of MEES is devoted to longer articles contributed by leading experts from around the world on all aspects of the oil and gas industry, and the economic and political scene in the Middle East. It provides a much-sought-after platform for government officials, energy industry executives, leading academics and other eminent analysts to air their views to MEES subscribers - a wide body of key decisions makers interested in the Middle East.
