Sudan: Country outlook
Economist Intelligence Unit - Jun 2009

EIU expects Sudan’s real GDP
to fall  be to 2.6% in 2009, before recovering slightly to 3.4% in 2010 as output is forecast to grow slightly over the forecast period. Consumer price growth is expected to average 7.7% in 2009-10, well below the target agreed with the IMF. However, with elections due in 2010, the government will resist pressure to reduce the fiscal deficit by cutting food or fuel subsidies and will add to inflationary pressures by printing money to maintain its spending.
