Economist Intelligence Unit - Oct 2009

The economy in Saudi Arabia is forecast to grow by an average of 3.4% per year in 2010-11: a slowdown on the annual average of 4.4% during the 2003-08 oil boom, but a recovery from the contraction of 1% estimated for 2009 (owing to oil production cuts). Consumer price inflation is forecast to average 3.5% in 2010, lower than the estimated level of 5% for 2009, as the impact of 2009's global and local economic slowdown (and especially softer global commodity prices) has taken some time to feed through into domestic prices.
