EIU expects Libya’s real GDP
to be 3.1% instead of 2.9% in 2009, and in 2010 4.9% instead of 4.8% as Bank lending to the private sector has accelerated sharply in 2008 and early 2009, which is an encouraging indication for economic activity. Inflation will be expected to rise sharply as the government has slowly relaxed its control over the domestic market and economic growth has strengthened.
