The Saudi-based Aujan Industries is a multiline conglomerate that produces and distributes soft drinks and confectionery through subsidiaries throughout the Arab region. The company also specializes in food distribution, furniture production, basic materials manufacturing, hotel operation, precious stone mining, real estate development and distribution of industrial machinery and safety equipment.
When it was established in 1905, Aujan Industries was a family business trading in tobacco, rice, beverages and other commodities. As of December 2008, it had 22 subsidiaries in 12 countries in the Middle East, Africa and the US and a group-wide staff of 2,500.
Aujan’s flagship brand is Rani Juice others include Hani and Barbican. The group is also licensed to produce Vimto, a UK brand of fruit drink. As of December 2008, the company had a total production capacity of 300 million liters of soft drinks per year.
The group’s UAE-based subsidiary, Rani International Development announced in June 2008 the launch of an AED600 million (USD163 million) commercial project in the Dubai Business Bay. The Blue Bay Commercial Tower is due to be completed by the end of 2010.
Aujan Industries Company, the group’s fully owned subsidiary, announced in March 2009, that it had achieved its “555 Strategy” (5 brands in 5 years with revenues reaching USD500 million), one year ahead of schedule. The group attributed this achievement mainly to the regional expansion of its flagship brand, Rani Juice.
The group announced that it plans to undergo an IPO in 2010, offering SAR600 million (USD159.9 million) to SAR800 million (USD213.3million), equaling 30% of its capital.
