Business Overview
The Yamama Saudi Cement Company (YSCC) produces clinker, ordinary portland cement and sulfate resisting cement. Through its subsidiaries, it also manufactures paper bags for cement packaging.
Yamama’s total production capacity of clinker amounted to 5.6 million tons per year, in 2011, while its cement production capacity reached 5.5 million tons per year. The company expanded regionally, in 2010, when it acquired 20% of the Yemeni Saudi Cement Company, which is expected to begin commercial operations, by the close of 2011, with a total production capacity of 1.4 million tons of cement per year. YSCC announced in October 2011 that it plans to replace five obsolete clinker lines with a new one, which will raise its output to 10,000 tons per day. Yamama’s total revenues increased by 9.37% to SAR1.27 billion (USD339 million). Its net profits rose by 16.94% to SAR657 million (USD175 million), mainly due to an improvement in operational efficiency, a rising demand of infrastructure projects and an increase in local sales.
