Qatar National Cement Company

The Qatar National Cement Company (QNCC) manufactures and distributes clinker, ordinary portland cement, sulphate resistant cement, washed sand cement, hydrated and calcined lime.

QNCC completed its fourth cement plant in May 2009, which increased its daily production capacity of clinker by 5,000 tons to 12,000 tons, and increased its cement capacity by 5,500 tons to 15,500 tons. One of the largest of its kind in the Middle East, the company’s annual production capacity reached 5.5 million tons of cement and 2.5 million tons of clinker, in 2010.

QNCC entered into a 25-year contract, in 2009, to supply the Qatar Electricity and Water Company with calcium carbonate, for which it is building a production unit to be completed in 2010. The company also took preliminary steps to establish a limited liability company, in partnership with the Shuaiba Company of Kuwait and other partners, to build a packaging plant in Qatar to produce paper bags; as of March 2010, there has been no date set for this project.

The company grew its revenues by 7.51% to SAR1.5 billion (USD399 million) and its net profits by 0.82% to SAR417 million (USD111 million), in 2009.
