  Business Overview
Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company?s (JPRC) activities include oil refining, loading, transport and distribution of refined products, blending and marketing of lube oil, manufacturing of drums and cans for lube oil products, manufacturing of LPG cylinders, asphalt drums, and underground tank storage.

The company was registered in 1957 with an issued share capital of JOD4 million (USD5.65 million) of which the Government contributed JOD250,000 (USD353,000) in 1956. The company was granted a 50 year concession by the government. The company?s first refinery had a daily production of 1,000 tons per year and officially commenced production in 1961.

The company had a total bulk storage capacity of 1.6 million tons in 2006. As of 2007 Jordanian Petroleum Company had an annual production capacity of 3.6 million tons per year and operated three bottling plants and two oil refineries.

The government of Jordan maintains majority partial ownership of the company through the Social Security Investment Unit.
