Established in 1888, Abdulla Yousif Fakhro Group (Fakhro) is a Bahrain-based conglomerate that operates through its subsidiaries in the automotive, industrial products, restaurant, technology, shipping, insurance, and transport industries.
Fakhro's automotive and industrial products activities are focused mainly on trading of automotive and industrial products through its subsidiary Abdulla Yousif Fakhro and Sons, which has represented several international brands in Bahrain for several decades. It has a distribution relationship with Dunlop Tires that dates back to 1934, which it augmented with Dunlop Mobil Lubricants, Powerpack batteries, petrolite chemicals, Dunlop oil and marine hoses, hydraulic fittings, industrial belting and workshop equipment. In addition, Abdulla Yousif Fakhro and Sons has agecy rights for ZZ (Alico) since 1960, subsidiary of the insurance giant American International Group (AIG), in addition to acting as an investment and real estate arm of Abdulla Yousif Fakhro Group.
Fakhro entered the food services business when McDonald's corporation appointed Fakhro Restaurants Company, a fully owned subsidiary of Fakhro, as its franchisee for Bahrain in 1993. Fakhro Restaurants Company owns and operates nine McDonald's restaurants across Bahrain (as of end of 2007).
Fakhro's transport services activities are carried out through its subsidiary Fakhro Transport, which provides car rental services under Budget Rent-A-Car franchise. The company had a fleet of 1,000 cars by end of 2006 and offer chauffeur services. Fakhro also expanded into Dubai by establishing the Go International that operates the Go Rent A Car chain in Dubai.
Fakhro entered the shipping sector by establishing the Gulf Agency Company (GAC) Bahrain as a joint venture with the Swedish based

Fakhro diversified its holding further by establishing companies in different sectors. Its subsidiary Fakhro Commercial Services is active in the electrical products wholesale and retail sector with agency rights to MK Electric (UK), Saudi Ega (Saudi Arabia), Brand Rex (UK), Ventilux (Ireland), and Barton Engineering (UK). Fakhro entered the contracting world with its subsidiary Fakhro Contracting, which offers mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire fighting contracting services. Fakhro also delved deeper into the insurance industry through Fakhro Insurance Services, which is an agent for General Accident Insurance and was converted in 2000 into an insurance brokerage firm.
Fakhro also entered the information technology industry through Fakhro Electronics, which distributes a range of information technology and data networking products to corporate accounts. It also distributes and retails consumer electronic products for the

The company represents key principals for infrastructure development such as Ericsson Radio Systems, and distributes products from
