The Jordan Telecom Group (JTG) provides fixed, mobile, and data telecommunication services, directly and through subsidiaries, to 2.4 million group subscribers in Jordan.
JTG had 1.71 million mobile subscribers in 2007, representing an annual increase of 21.7%, and earning it a 32.4% market share. The company grew its annual Internet subscribers by 70.2% to 65,700, earning a 50% market share. The annual fixed-line subscribers decreased by 2.5% to 660,100.
JTG’s fixed-line service generated JOD210.2 million (USD296.5 million) in 2007, which accounted for 52.8% of total revenues. Mobile services generated JOD173.9 million (USD245.3 million), which accounted for 43.7% of total revenues. Internet and data services generated JOD13.8 million (USD19.5 million), which represented 3.4% of total revenues.
JTG was established in 1971 as a state-owned company until the government incorporated it in 1997 as a first step in a privatization process. JTG's privatization began in 2000, when a consortium made-up of France Telecom and

, acquired 40% of the company. France Telecom played a significant role in the privatization of JTG, when it began gradually accruing shares till it became JTG’s controlling shareholder in 2006, with a 51% stake and management rights from 2000 until 2008. The state-run

owns 29% of JTG, and the Noor Telecommunications Holding Company holds 10%, as of the close of 2007.
After consolidating its controlling stake in JTG, France Telecom combined the company’s operations and all of its subsidiaries into a single organization with a shared management structure.
