Business Overview
The Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) produces ethylene, low density polyethylene, linear low density polyethylene, sulfur, ethylene dichloride, vinyl chloride and sodium hydroxide.
It owns 28 representative offices and eight warehouses, worldwide and operates five factories and plants in Qatar. QAPCO is developing a QAR1.4 billion (USD410 million) low density polyethylene plant in the Mesaieed Industrial City to be completed in the third quarter of 2011. The plant will produce annually: 1.2 million tons of polyethylene, 650,000 tons of low density polyethylene and 450,000 tons of linear low density polyethylene. The company’s third expansion project of the Mesaieed ethylene plant will increase ethylene production capacity by 25% to 900,000 tons per year, when it is completed in the third quarter of 2012.
