Dubai World Central (DWC) is a 140 million sq. m (1.5 billion sq. ft.) urban aviation community and an integrated logistics development that encompasses an international airport, a logistics free trade zone as well as commercial, residential and recreational city centers.
Still under construction in Jebel Ali, as of May 2008, DWC will have several completion dates, depending on each of its components. DWC will cost AED121.25 billion (USD33 billion) for infrastructure works alone and will be divided into six major zones.

The
DWC Logistics City (DLC)DWC Logistics City (DLC)
is a specialized free zone with an estimated cost of AED8.1 billion (USD2.2 billion), will serve every mode of transportation, logistics need, and value-adding operation in the supply chain, including manufacturing and assembly. When completed at the end of 2008, the 25 million sq. m (269 million sq. ft.) complex will consist of 16 air cargo terminals capable of processing more than 12 million tons of freight per year. The

will have its own staff-housing village, which will be home to 41,300 workers in a built up area of 350,000 sq. m (3.8 million sq. ft.).
The DWC Residential City is a mixed-used community development of 8.6 million sq. m (92.6 million sq. ft.). The Residential City will provide freehold land plots open to developers, a mix of two-storey villas, luxury apartment blocks and leased quality homes for 250,000 people. The residential city, which is expected to be completed in 2011, will also include three hotels and a shopping mall.
The massive development’s business-focused endeavor is the DWC Commercial City, a 14.5 million sq. m (156 million sq. ft.) business and financial hub, will feature more than 850 office tower blocks and 25 hotels when completed in 2015.
The DWC Golf City will feature two 18-hole golf courses and 5,000 freehold homes. The resort will also feature a hotel and a spa resort. The Golf City will cover an area of 15.8 million sq. m (170 million sq. ft.). Development will begin at the end of 2008 and take two years to be completed.
Fitting to an aviation community, DWC has provided an Aviation City to host all aviation manufacturing and associated industries, MRO companies, aviation support services, design and consultancy, R&D, aviation training, products and parts, light manufacturing units and high-technology industries. It will feature one of the world’s largest Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centers, at a cost of AED18.37 billion (USD5 billion), which will be able to will be able to accommodate all types of aircraft from light jets to super-jumbos, such as the A380. The 6.7 million sq. m (72.1 million sq. ft.) Aviation City is expected to be completed in 2009.
