  Business Overview
Emaar the Economic City (ECC) is a real estate development and management company headed by Emaar PropertiesEmaar PropertiesLoading... PJSC and a group of investors. EEC will be involved in the development of residential, commercial, industrial, retail, hotel and other properties.

EEC was established in May 2006 for the primary purpose of master planning and managing the King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), a SAR187.6 billion (USD50 billion) property development located in the north of Jeddah. KAEC is one of the largest private projects being built in Saudi Arabia, based on the total cost and the land area of 168 million sq. m (1.8 billion sq. ft.). Stretching along a 35-kilometer (22-mile) beachfront on the Red Sea, KAEC will consist of six components when completed in 2030: a seaport, industrial district, residential district, financial island, education zone and waterside resort.

EEC underwent an IPO in July 2006, offering 30% of its shares on the Saudi Stock ExchangeSaudi Stock ExchangeLoading... (TadawulTadawulLoading...); it raised (SAR2.6 billion) USD693.6 million on October 2006, to be used in financing KAEC
