Arabtec Holding Company (Arabtec) has grown along side the United Arab Emirates. It was involved in many of the country's recognizable projects including the expansion of the Deira City CentreDeira City Centre in 1999, Al Maha Desert ResortAl Maha Desert Resort for Emirates AirlinesEmirates Airlines in 1998, the Sharjah Art Gallery in 1996, Dubai's Garhoud residential compound in 1992, accommodation buildings and offices for Abu Dhabi Oil Company (ADOC)Abu Dhabi Oil Company (ADOC) in 1983 and many others.

Arabtec invests in the contracting sector through establishing, managing, acquiring, and owning shares in one or more existing contracting companies. It was established in 1975 as the Arab Technical Construction Company (ATCC) until it changed its name in July 2004. In August 2004, Arabtec underwent an IPO on the Dubai Financial MarketDubai Financial Market that raised USD60 million for 55% of the company's shares.

Arabtec controls its wholly owned subsidiary, Arabtec ConstructionArabtec Construction, which operates in civil engineering and building, construction and project management, business development, quantity surveying, high-rise development and commercial and industrial projects. It acquired Austrian Arabian Ready Mix CompanyAustrian Arabian Ready Mix Company in September 2005 and also expanded into the steel industry by acquiring stakes in Gulf Steel Industries in January 2008.
