  Business Overview
Jazeera Airways (Jazeera) is a Kuwait and Dubai based, low-cost airline that operates scheduled passenger and cargo flights to 23 destinations, as of 2007.

Jazeera began commercial operations in 2005 with two, new Airbus A320s, as the region's second low-cost carrier (after the Sharjah-based Air ArabiaAir ArabiaLoading...). The airlines status as the first privately owned, scheduled flight operator in the region, places it in the spotlight as a sign of the industrys increased inclination toward privatization.

Using Kuwait as its main hub, Jazeera's initial routes were Bahrain, Dubai, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan. As part of its expansion, the number of passengers who flew Jazeera doubled in 2007 to reach 1.2 million. The airline, which has 40 A-320s on order as of 2007, offers flights from its Dubai hub to Mumbai, New Delhi, Kochi, Maldives, Salalah, Manama, Muscat, Kuwait and Lebanon.

Jazeera underwent an IPO in 2004 that raised KWD7 million (USD24 million) for 70% of its shares, which it listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange in January 2008.

The airline expects its 2008 profit projections to yield to KWD4.3 million (USD15.7 million) from operational activities. In keeping with its 5-year plan, Jazeera will establish hubs throughout the Middle East and increase its routes to 82, by 2012.
