 Business Overview
Yemen Corporation for Cement Industry and Marketing operates three cement factories with annual production capacity of 1.25 million tonnes. The Bajil plant was the first to come on-stream with annual production capacity of 250,000 tonnes. Production at Amran commenced in 1982 at an annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes. In 1993, Al Barh plant was commissioned, adding another 500,000 tonnes to the country's output. Actual production in 2001 from the three plants exceeded nominal output and accounted for 70% of local demand. Figures from the corporation predict a 5.6% annual growth in demand to four million tonnes in 2010.
