Business Overview
Saudi Arabia’s ministry of health is responsible for public healthcare and the supervision of both public and private hospitals and medical institutions. Under its domain is the licensing of doctors and private clinics, as well as drug certifications and controls. The ministry also provides procurement of medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.
The ministry supervises 4,320 hospitals and clinics and owns and operates five hospitals, among them the King Fahad Medical CityKing Fahad Medical City  , which alone comprises several specialized hospitals and clinics totaling 1095 beds and 520 doctors. The ministry plans to open 16 new mental hospitals and 20 diabetic foot clinics, by the end of 2011.
