The Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC) provides radio and television broadcasting, publishing and printing, digital media and newspaper distribution. Known until 2007 as Emirates Media Incorporated, the government-owned company is headquartered in Abu Dhabi with offices in Cairo, Dubai and Washington D.C.
ADMC owns and operates six television channels: Abu Dhabi 1, Abu Dhabi Drama, Abu Dhabi Emirates, Abu Dhabi Sports, Holy Quran and National Geographic Abu Dhabi. It also owns four radio stations that broadcast throughout the UAE on FM frequencies. In the publishing sector, the company owns Al Ittihad newspaper, which reports primarily on Abu Dhabi news, and The National, an English-language newspaper. Its portfolio of weekly magazines includes Zahrat Al Khaleej, a lifestyle women’s magazine, Majid, a children's magazine, and Super Sports, a magazine for football and sports enthusiasts and National Geographic Al Arabia, an Arabic version of the National Geographic magazine.
In the printing sector, ADMC owns the
United Printing and PublishingUnited Printing and Publishing
(UPP), which prints books, magazines, catalogs and commercial publications.
ADMC, along with the Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and EMI Music, in partnership with YouTube, launched VEVO, a music video and entertainment service, in 2009. VEVO features a selection of music videos, exclusive premieres and concerts.
