Dubai Media City (DMC) is a specialized free trade zone for media and media-related organizations. As part of the Dubai HoldingDubai Holding, DMC fits under the TECOMTECOM (Dubai Technology, E-Commerce and Media Free Zone Authority) umbrella, which also includes Dubai Internet CityDubai Internet City and Dubai Knowledge VillageDubai Knowledge Village. The zone allows 100% foreign ownership and offers tax exemptions for companies and individuals.

Since its establishment in 2001, DMC grew its list of tenants to 1,213 companies by the end of 2006. These companies include regional and international broadcasters such as Associated Press, MBCMBC, RotanaRotana, ShowtimeShowtime, CNN, BBC, CNBC, ArabiyaArabiya and Reuters. Moreover, print journalists, writers, designers, publishers, and IT experts operate in the Media Business Center, an area in which freelancers set up shop.
