The Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (TAKREER) was established in 1999 to take over the refining operations of its parent company, the Abu Dhabi National Oil CompanyAbu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOCADNOC). TAKREER's activities include the refining of crude oil and condensate, supply of petroleum products and production of granulated sulfur.

TAKREER is in charge of the Abu Dhabi and Ruwais refineries, which together produce 23 million tons of petroleum products per year for the local and export markets. The company is also working on expanding its activities in the downstream sector.
