This blog will complement my primary blog (http://investhalal.blogspot.com). I foresee infrequent but longer posts here than those on my primary blog, which focuses on the day-to-day developments in the Islamic finance industry. My detailed bio is available on my blog or at my website, sharingrisk.org.
Name Blake Goud
Current Position Principal
Company Name Sharing Risk dot Org
Sector Financial Services
Age 32
Academic Background I have a B.A. in Economics from Reed College (Portland, Oregon, USA). My thesis was titled: "The Determinants of Firm Performance in Transition: Empirical Evidence from 25 Countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union"
Biography As the principal of Sharing Risk dot Org, I am an expert researcher on Islamic finance as well as a freelance journalist with a monthly column in Business Islamica magazine and the US correspondent for Islamic Business & Finance magazine.

My areas of focus within Islamic finance are its growth within non-Muslim-majority countries, microfinance and the interaction of Islamic finance with other forms of ethical finance.

I presented a paper on a murabaha and musharaka based microfinance model at the 8th Havard University Forum on Islamic Finance in April 2008. A similar paper is forthcoming from the Journal of Islamic Economics, Banking & Finance.

I serve as Chief Compliance Officer of Marquam Capital, an investment advisory firm specializing in ethical investing.

Between 2006 to 2008, I served as executive director of the Institute of Halal Investing, a think tank working to demystify Islamic finance among Muslims and non-Muslims.
