Jordan Nursing Council, USAID Jordan sign grant agreement
- Text size
In line with its continuous support and partnership with the Jordan Nursing Council (JNC), USAID Jordan signed today a grant agreement that would equip a state of the art computer lab as part of the Nurses Center of Excellence.
The signing ceremony took place at Economic Development Program premises in Amman and was attended by Secretary General of JNC Da'ad Shokah, USAID Jordan Mission Director Jay Knott, and officials from both parties.
The JNC's Center of Excellence will be a state of the art facility, equipped by a modern computer lab which will provide Jordanian nurses with access to modern technology and latest literature.
The Center will provide all resources for nurses to re-certify their skills and validate their competencies.
Nurses will have the flexibility to self-test their skills by participating in interactive exercises, which will focus on building competencies and confidence to enhance learning.
USAID believes JNC will become a hub for nurses seeking career advancement, as well as a destination for hospitals seeking to upgrade their nursing staffs' skills.
With USAID's support in 2009, the JNC became the second organization in the region to gain accreditation from the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) as provider for continuous education.
This allows the JNC to deliver the ANCC's credentialing courses in Jordan.
Upgrading the skills of Jordanian nurses is essential in Jordan's positioning as a regional and global hub for medical tourism.
Due to the fact that the global health care system is changing rapidly, continuing education programs for nurses are vital to upgrade skills and ensure the most modern techniques.
USAID's support for ongoing education through the JNC focuses on specialized training programs for nurses, nursing faculty members, and nursing supervisors at Jordanian hospitals.
Shokeh thanked USAID program for supporting JNC efforts in enhancing nursing profession.
She said that having a computer lab as a part of conducting the nursing educational activities, is partly an adaptation exercise to modern technology, necessary to ensure safe and quality care for customers.
