MUSCAT: Hewlett-Packard (HP)Hewlett-Packard (HP)
, the largest technology company in the world, in its ambitious plan to penetrate deeper into Oman's information technology sector, intends to bring to the Sultanate the company's latest products and solutions introduced the world over. In tune with this, the US-based company has unveiled its new solutions in Oman, that primarily changes the way technology is used to deliver business services, while also reducing infrastructure costs and complexities.
The array of products that have been introduced in the Omani market include state-of-the-art HP BladeSystem, several new servers as well as innovations in HP Virtual Connect and HP BladeSystem Matrix. "We have strong products and services portfolio that caters to the business needs of our customers. We continue to invest our resources in helping regional organisations in the Middle East grow and reach their business goals," pointed out Santiago Cortés, managing director and VP Enterprise Business, HP Middle EastHP Middle East
, Mediterranean and Africa (Mema) at Grand Hyatt Hotel, Muscat on Tuesday. For organisations in the Sultanate of Oman, he added, this means a higher return on investments and seamless management of their IT systems.
BladeSystem is an infrastructure in a box. The box is where the moving parts connect to the blades, which are simply computers or servers without fans and power supplies. This saves money on energy and space because the enclosure pools, shares, and optimises power and cooling across all the blades.
In a nutshell, BladeSystem Matrix is a software that simplifies IT environment with one-touch, self-service provisioning of applications, while Virtual Connect is a single device that converges data and storage networks to eliminate 95 per cent of sprawl at the network edge. This eliminates the need for multiple interconnects. Virtual Connect is the company's fastest growing network technology.
With the launch of the industry's first converged software, server, storage, network and power management technologies, HP not only seeks to add substantial value to the Sultanate's rapidly growing IT sector, but enable clients to shift millions of dollars in operational costs to activities that drive business innovation.
Fawwaz Qadan, director, Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking, HP Middle EastHP Middle East
, who also present at the press briefing, explained: "Our customers in Oman approach us for flexible technology solutions that can help them focus their resources, namely time, manpower and money, on innovation rather than operations. In response to this demand, we have introduced some groundbreaking enterprise solutions that cover every area of the data centre, resulting in greater levels of simplification, performance and savings for our clients." Santiago explained that HP's growth strategy in the Mema region includes a deep social investment programme.
