Shock and Dustproof All-Weather Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 Designed to Meet Demands of Active Outdoor Lifestyle

Dubai-UAE: 15th April, 2010 - Sony GulfSony GulfLoading..., the regional arm of consumer electronics giant Sony, today announced the introduction of the world's slimmest waterproof digital still camera, the Cyber-shot DSC-TX5, for those who lead an active lifestyle.

The highly fashionable Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 can handle just about anything an active lifestyle holds as it takes outdoor photography to a whole new level because of its waterproof, dustproof, shockproof and weather-resistant capability.

With a depth of just 16.7mm[1] and waterproof down to three metres, the DSC-TX5 is the world's slimmest waterproof camera, featuring a three-inch intuitive LCD touch screen, which can be used under water.

The Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 is equipped with the Exmor™ R CMOS sensor with 10.2 effective mega pixels, which when combined with an advanced BIONZ image processor and high performance Carl Zeiss lens, allows the camera to capture detail-packed images even in extreme low-light conditions.

Incorporated in the camera is the Backlight Correction HDR which takes two exposures, one to capture shadow detail and the other to capture highlight detail. Merging both exposures into a single JPEG image, maximum dynamic range and natural colours are obtained in the final image.

The Cyber-shot integrates a 25mm wide-angle lens, which offers users the option of capturing photographs with more varied perspectives. A new self-portrait timer helps determine the best composition before activating an automated timer to release the shutter.

Adding to the array of high performance features, the DSC-TX5 features the Intelligent Sweep Panorama function, where with a simple sweep of the camera either horizontally or vertically, the DSC-TX5 is able to stitch together a burst of high resolution frames to create a single panoramic shot. This feature, an upgrade of the popular Sweep Panorama in previous Cyber-shot models, now offers improved processing for seamless panoramas, even when people are moving in the frame.

Available in five stunning colour options - black, silver, pink, green, and red - the DSC-TX5 enables users to select Memory Stick™ PRO Duo, Memory Stick™ PRO-HG, SD or SDHC memory cards to suit personal preference. It also features built-in Picture Motion Browser (PMB) Portable software for instant uploads of photographs to photo sharing websites.

Adding further ease, a wide range of accessories for the camera are also available - a soft, fashionable case in a choice of colours that use water repellent materials to dry the camera while carrying it, and a floating strap that safeguards against losing the camera while users are in the water.

The Cyber-shot DSC-TX5 is currently available in select countries across the Middle East. In the UAE, the model is available in all Jumbo Electronics retail stores as well as other major electronics outlets.
