Driving industry momentum for operators to maximize their mobile broadband business
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 10 March, 2010: HuaweiHuawei
, a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, this week joins leading telecommunications industry professionals to discuss the inevitable and growing importance of mobile broadband technology in the region. The 2010 Broadband Global Summit in Dubai, now in its 2nd year, is an important platform for local operators to position the region for next generation mobile communication technology. "HuaweiHuawei
's mobile broadband solutions address the challenges faced by operators, by simplifying the network structure and breaking down the barriers between different standards and technologies. Boosting spectrum efficiency, simplifying network architecture and optimizing base station and O & M efficiency are crucial aspects for success in next generation mobile broadband delivery," said Mr Ihab Ghattas, Assistant President for HuaweiHuawei
Middle East, at the conference. "Mobile broadband is a significant catalyst for future growth and mobilising the telecom industry ecosystem towards the true realities of convergence."
Today's operating environment is characterized by a period of transition where the economy is challenging operators to find new and innovative ways to protect hard-earned margins.
HuaweiHuawei
estimates that global data traffic on mobile broadband networks will grow 1,000 times over the next decade, from the current 85 million Giga-bytes per month in 2009. As the number of mobile broadband users continues to climb, subscribers will increasingly look for low tariffs with unlimited, high-speed access and abundant mobile broadband service, while operators will need network capabilities which allow them to accommodate the expansion pressures of mobile broadband network and profitable operation mode.
At the recent Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, HuaweiHuawei
unveiled a new mobile broadband solution, called SingleRAN@Broad. This solution will accommodate the tremendous increase in mobile broadband traffic, reduce the per-bit cost by over 95%, and make mobile broadband services more profitable for operators worldwide. In the coming two years, the number of mobile subscribers will be up to 5 billion, and the network will cover over 80% of the global population. HuaweiHuawei
is poised to lead the market with industry ready technology and solutions which support the telecom operators in the region to realize these ambitious goals and position the Middle East and North Africa region as a premier contributor to next generation mobile communication technology.
