RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: Signaling its commitment to research and development, Intel CorporationIntel CorporationLoading... yesterday signed an agreement with King Abdulaziz City for Science and TechnologyKing Abdulaziz City for Science and TechnologyLoading... (KACSTKACSTLoading...) to launch the first Middle East research center for developing more energy efficient solutions.

Named the Middle East Energy Efficiency Research Center or MER, the new facility will leverage off IntelIntelLoading...'s global research expertise and will also benefit from KACSTKACSTLoading...'s extensive research capabilities and tap into the abundant talent pool in the Kingdom and region's leading universities.

The Middle East Energy Efficiency Research Center will play a pivotal role in the region's efforts to promote more efficient use of energy in technology devices through conducting and sharing research with leading universities across the Middle East.

Signed at KACSTKACSTLoading...'s headquarters in Riyadh in the presence of Andrew A. Chien, IntelIntelLoading...'s Vice President, IntelIntelLoading... Labs and Director of Future Technologies Research, and KACSTKACSTLoading... President Dr. Mohammed Ibn Ibrahim Al-Suwaiyel, the Middle East Energy Efficiency Research Center agreement is the third joint initiative between IntelIntelLoading... and KACSTKACSTLoading..., following landmark projects focusing on wireless mobile services and nano-manufacturing applications.
