Specialist oilfield production chemicals company Champion Technologies has been awarded a three year contract with extension options for a further four years by Maersk Oil North Sea UK Ltd to provide production chemicals for subsea and topside applications across its North Sea assets.

The value of the initial three-year deal is expected to be in excess of $10million.

Stuart Mathieson, Champion Technologies' UK business manager, said: "Securing a new long-term contract with an operator such as Maersk Oil is an important win for Champion Technologies in the North Sea sector, underpinning our business portfolio within the UKCS and confirming our reputation as a leading supplier to UK Oil & Gas operators."

Champion Technologies is the world's fastest growing speciality chemical company offering innovative and environmentally acceptable solutions to oil & gas production problems. Corporate Headquarters are in Houston, Texas, with the Eastern Hemisphere Headquarters in Aberdeen. Champion Technologies operates across more than 40 countries employing around 2000 people.

The company recently announced investment in a new multi-million pound Aberdeen headquarters and Research and Development centre, as well as expansion of its facilities in Scandinavia, the Middle East, Africa and Caspian regions.

The Aberdeen building, which is due for completion later this year, will house five generic chemical processes and applications and will work in partnership with existing laboratories and technical centres in the Netherlands, Houston, Calgary, Moscow, Singapore and Dubai.
