MISSAN: Local firms on Thursday finalized three sewage projects in Missan at a total cost of 17 billion Iraqi dinars (ID) the province's sewage director said.
"One project was carried out in the district of al-Uzayr, (65 km) south of al-Amara at a cost of ID6.800 billion, another in the district of al-Musharah, (25 km) east of al-Amara at ID6.200 billion and a third one in the district of Kemit, (20 km), east of al-Amara at ID4 billion," Eng. Fouad Khudeir told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
"The projects, which took 12 months to finish, are within the Provincial Development Budget (PDB) appropriations for 2008," he added.
Khudeir noted that the projects are meant to serve more than 45,000 local residents in these three districts.
Missan has focused during the years 2006, 2007 and 2008 on sewage projects. Appropriations for sanitary drainage have been the largest compared to other sectors in line with the reconstruction policy pursued by the province, for which appropriations exceeded ID130 billion in 2008.
Amara, the capital city of Missan province, lies 390 km south of Baghdad.
