MUSCAT -- KnowledgeOman.com marked one year since its launch with an anniversary celebration last Thursday at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU)Sultan Qaboos University (SQU)
that reached out to all community members. As part of its mission of 'connecting communities with knowledge,' the anniversary celebration connected with a diverse crowd of professionals from the public and private sector, including youth, students and families. "Our celebration of a year filled with success from the day of our launch in April 2008 is a celebration for Oman and the entire community as we always commit to making a difference.
"The anniversary party entertained the audience with various segments while highlighting the success of our first year, honoured the members and called the community to take part in this visionary role to launch bigger initiatives this upcoming year," said Tariq Al Barwani, founder and the president of KnowledgeOman.com.
The various achievements of KnowledgeOman.com include winning the International Standard Web Technology Award for 2008 from Oman Web Awards, linking with the global software giant MicrosoftMicrosoft
, launching the Show Your Potential programme for MicrosoftMicrosoft
certifications, launching KO Mobile product, establishing the e-government gateway and other initiatives, along with a quality online portal that has become a leading knowledge hub attracting a diverse group of visitors and members. "KnowledgeOman.com is the home of quality and many talents, and this has been clearly reflected in our anniversary event.
"Not only was it a celebration, but also an event that promised to make a difference to its members and guests by reaching out with our mission and vision and calling the community to take part for the country's progress and personal development," explained Khalfan Al Mahrazy, vice-president of KnowledgeOman.com.
The anniversary party commenced with a recitation of the Holy Quran by Yahya Al Khusaibi followed by a rendition of the National Anthem by children from Al Masarat Private School to solidify His Majesty's vision of transforming the Sultanate into a knowledge based society, and afterwards a welcome speech by KO Vice-President Khalfan Al Mahrazy as he shared his personal experience and the significance of the team's mission.
Other segments included an entertaining quiz session with prizes by Kubu the KO English administrator, a KO talent segment with an Urdu song by Waleed Khan, an Arabic poetry recitation by Issa Al Raqadi in collaboration with another member Fatma Al Rawahi, a series of KO videos and the empowering 'Secret of Success' presentation by KO president that motivated and energised the audience.
The 'Secret of Success' introduced insights and action-steps towards attaining success, while featuring the success of KnowledgeOman.com in an interactive and engaging manner. Towards the end of the event Khalfan Al Busaidi, KO Arabic administrator, announced the launch of a new leading project known as the KO school with certification at the end of the study programme, in addition to announcing the launch of an online quiz for the entire month of July with various surprises awaiting the winners.
The one year anniversary party also honoured the distinguished leadership of president Tariq Al Barwani with a gift to express everyone's appreciation as he strongly leads KnowledgeOman.com forward and makes a lasting difference in the country, along with a gift to Khalfan Al Mahrazy for his dedicated role and empowering support since the launch of knowledgeOman.com to bring success to all projects and members.
After the ceremonial cutting of the KO anniversary cake, a group photo was taken ensuring everyone left inspired and motivated for the year to come that will hold bigger and enriching surprises for the community.
Tariq Al Barwani added, "We have built a great team and family based on a strong foundation to support the growth of Knowledge in Oman.
"The days to come will be further empowered as we announce bigger projects and more valuable community initiatives that are set to enrich value to our country and the leadership of His Majesty the Sultan."
