29 road projects in Karbala |

KARBALA: Twenty-nine road projects were finalized by the Karbala municipality during the past couple of days at a total cost of 1.700 billion Iraqi dinars, according to the first deputy governor on Saturday.
"The projects, within the framework of the provincial development budget (PDB) projects for the year 2009, included building new roads and the paving of others," Abbas al-Musawi told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
"Eight of the projects were carried out in the capital city of the province, five in the district of al-Hindiya, (20 km) north of Karbala, one in Ayn al-Tamr, (85 km) west of Karbala, two in al-Husseiniya, (20 km) north of Karbala, two in al-Jadwal al-Gharbi, (23 km) east of Karbala, and 11 projects in the district of al-Hurr, (5 km) west of Karbala," added Musawi.
The holy Shiite city of Karbala lies 110 km southwest of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
