New premises for Oman's embassy in Tokyo opened |

TOKYO -- A celebration was held here on Thursday to mark the opening of the new premises of the Sultanate's embassy, under the auspices of Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, secretary-general of the Foreign Ministry. Shinzo Abe, the former Japanese prime minister, was the guest of honour at the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Sayyid Badr reaffirmed the cordial relations and constructive cooperation between the two friendly countries in various spheres on the basis of joint values and goals and preserving peace, understanding, security and respect of cultural
diversification and support of dialogue, justice and the rule of law.
Khalid bin Hashil bin Mohammed Al Maslahi, the Sultanate's ambassador to Japan, also gave a speech in which he said that the new premises was in line with the objectives of the Sultanate in enhancing cooperation with Japan further.
In his speeach, Shinzo Abe praised the strong ties between Japan and the Sultanate.
The function was attended by a number of Japanese ministers, senior officials, members of the Japanese parliament, ambassadors of the AGCC states and heads of the diplomatic missions and representatives of companies.
The new building consists of seven floors in addition to the residence of the ambassador and the Sultanate's diplomats, spread over a total area of 2,404sq metres.
