A total of 693 female students graduated from Qatar University (QU)Qatar University (QU)
at a ceremony held at Doha Sheraton yesterday. The graduates comprised of eight MBAs, 13 MAs in Education Leadership, and 628 BAs which include 40 in Education, 32 Sharia, 86 Engineering, 56 Business & Economics, 387 Arts & Sciences and 27 Law. Forty-four Diplomas in Education were also awarded, 17 of which were in Primary Education from a collaborative program between QUQU
and Texas A&M Qatar.

President Prof Abdulla Al Misnad addressed the graduates at the event held in the presence of QUQU
Vice Presidents, Deans, faculty, staff, family and well-wishers "Today we are proud to be part of this happy ceremony which signifies your crowning achievement of four years of hard work", Prof Al Misnad said.
She encouraged the graduates to seize the opportunity of the many options that are open to them as women in the professional field.
"This requires a great deal of responsibility for which you have the necessary instruments and skills to succeed". She further advised them that the measure of success is not in gaining a top position or earning a large salary, but in using their capabilities to improve their lives and the lives of others.
Head of the Department of Arabic Language Dr Ali Al Kubaisi delivered the keynote address.
Alsoswa lauded the graduates' achievements of the students. "I am delighted to celebrate the Class of 2009 as they prepare to face the challenges in their coming life". She pointed out that QUQU
is an institution of high repute whose ever-increasing development takes care of the needs of Qatari youth and the labor market. Alsoswa noted that under the Emir's leadership, Qatar's social and economic development and emphasis on education have led to the empowerment of women. "The future is open and the country needs your efforts", she said.
Medals of Excellence were awarded to Shaden Mohammed Daghash, Farzana Alireza Amana, Alya Abdulla Al Naimi, Sara Al Rasheed, Wadha Jabir Al Marri, Sara Abouelkassem and Aamal Abdulla Radhi. Fifty one graduates were recognised on the QUQU
Honors List.
