Lower House rejects 'outdated' Manufacturing Commission temporary law |

AMMAN - Lawmakers on Wednesday rejected the 2002 National Manufacturing Commission temporary law, based on a recommendation by the Lower House Administrative Committee.
In its recommendation, the committee said that in addition to being out of date, the law has not been implemented since it entered into force.
During yesterday's session, some deputies said there is no need to establish new commissions that world drain the treasury, pointing out that the King Abdullah Design and Development Bureau (KADDB)King Abdullah Design and Development Bureau (KADDB)
already conducts research and development for design and manufacturing.
"KADDBKADDB
already exists and is doing these tasks," Deputy Abdul Karim Dughmi said during the discussions.
He claimed that the concept of establishing commissions, which was initiated during the period when there was no Parliament, was "corrupt", as it brought foreign companies into the country that pay high salaries to their employees.
"The introduction of commissions to the Kingdom weakened the Jordanian administration," Dughmi charged.
Meanwhile, Minister of Justice Ayman Odeh said the government has no objection to the House's rejection of the bill.
"When this law was introduced, it was supposed to establish a manufacturing committee for military purposes, which is currently the task of KADDBKADDB
... But now, the government does not support the establishment of new entities," Odeh explained.
Meanwhile, MPs postponed deliberations over Audit Bureau reports until Sunday.
